Email Deliverability in SOLO Server
- The integrated eCommerce / shopping cart
- The Customer License Portal (for example, the Forgot Password workflow)
- Custom mailings you configure in SOLO Server
Because these emails are sent automatically and originate from your domain, modern email security requirements require additional verification to ensure reliable delivery.
Why Email Verification Is Required
Email security and domain‑sending reputation have become a top priority for both consumer email providers (such as Gmail and Outlook) and corporate IT departments. As a result, newer security standards are now enforced to prevent email spoofing and phishing.
If emails sent from your SOLO Server account are:
- Not being received by customers
- Being delivered to spam or junk folders
The most common cause is that your domain is not fully authenticated under these newer email security policies.
Free Email Domains Are Not Supported
You cannot use free or consumer email domains to send email from SOLO Server, including (but not limited to):
- gmail.com
- yahoo.com
- hotmail.com
- outlook.com
All emails must be sent from an address on your company’s domain, typically the same domain used for your public website (for example, sales@yourcompany.com or support@yourcompany.com).
Verifying Your Domain
To authorize SOLO Server to send email on behalf of your domain, you must configure specific Domain Name Service (DNS) records. This is a one‑time setup per domain.
Without proper domain verification, you may experience:
- Emails being delivered to junk or spam folders
- Message bounces
- Emails being quarantined or rejected due to SPF and DKIM alignment checks
Your IT administrator (or whoever manages DNS for your domain) will need to add these records in your DNS provider’s control panel. You can find the exact values required by logging into your SOLO Server account and navigating to the Email Domains page.
Our email sending provider has put together some guides for popular webhosts. Once added, the records should verify automatically, typically within a few hours.
My Records are not Verifying
If you have added the DNS records but they are not verifying in SOLO Server, the most common cause is your DNS provider automatically appending your domain name to the record.
Removing your domain name from the added records may resolve the issue. For example:
- use s12345._domainkey instead of s12345._domainkey.yourcompany.com
- use em12345 instead of em12345.yourcompany.com
